Care
Care difficulty: BeginnerA vigorous, forgiving staghorn suited to beginners once established. Water thoroughly, let excess water drain, and allow the mount to become mostly dry before watering again. Keep newly separated pups lightly moist while they root.
Give it a bright window or an airy balcony with filtered light or gentle morning sun. Increase sun exposure gradually; an abrupt move into strong sun can scorch the fronds. Brighter light can encourage shorter, more upright new fronds.
Protect from frost.
Description
Mature shield fronds develop pointed upper lobes that form a raised crown.
The narrow, branching fertile fronds carry silver-white surface hairs. Their posture and proportions change with cultivation: brighter-grown plants can develop shorter, upright fronds, while shaded plants can develop longer, arching fronds.
Lemoinei is a long-cultivated named staghorn selection known in Taiwan as 檸檬 and in Japan as レモイネイ. Its pointed shield crown and divided silvery-green fertile fronds give it a distinctive outline.
